STREEM’S APPROACH TO PRIVACY
Streem takes privacy, data security, and personally identifiable information (PII) very seriously. Streem abides by and is compliant under data privacy laws CCPA and GDPR, both enacted to enhance privacy rights and consumer protections.
The customer is in control through the whole experience and must opt-in at least 3 times to join the Streem video call—accepting the invitation link, tapping terms and conditions, and eventually starting the Streem call. During a call the customer has complete control of their microphone, camera, and location information..
Only the customer’s name, phone number, and a short video clip are captured and automatically stored from each Streem call. We never share this information with anyone outside of Streem and the company that conducted the Streem call. Customer contact information is not shared or used by Streem for any marketing or promotional purposes.
CUSTOMER DEVICE ACCESS
Only the front facing camera and microphone on the customer’s device will be used in a Streem call. Streem cannot access any other customer files or data.
DATA & STORAGE
Streem uses Amazon Web Services (AWS) - the industry standard for secure cloud computing services – for secure, cloud-based data storage and computing infrastructure.
Streem also uses hashing algorithms for extra security around sensitive PII. Similar to encryption and encoding, hashing algorithms change and hide data but are distinctly more secure in that they are irreversible (It is not possible to take a hash and convert it back to the original data) and unique (no two hash values are ever the same for two different pieces of data), thus providing extra security.
